Protecting your home from termites – a T.I.P.

Nov 30, 2018, 09:29 AM by Fred Speer

Clark, your neighborly pest control expert, is not only a highly trained and licensed professional who protects your home from unwanted pests, but a budding sleuth as well.

Clark investigates the root causes and origins behind pest infestations that can threaten you and your family, the food you eat, and the biggest financial investment it’s likely you’ll ever make – your home.

What pest demands Clark’s utmost attention when it comes to pests that threaten your home? That would be termites.

Termites are elusive pests that can go undetected for years, hidden behind walls, floor coverings, insulation, and other obstructions. Often there will be no visible indication that your home is infested.

Preventing termites from wreaking havoc in your home requires a special set of skills, including knowledge of construction techniques, to identify hidden and difficult to access areas – only 25 to 35 percent of the interior of today’s homes are accessible to inspections – where termites often go about their destructive ways undisturbed.

Having your home inspected annually for termites and other wood-destroying pests by a trained professional – who knows where to look, what to look for, and how to fix the problem – can give you the peace of mind you deserve.

With prime termite season behind us – destructive subterranean termites, the most frequently encountered termite in California, typically swarm in springtime – now is the ideal time to get ahead of these destructive pests and schedule a termite inspection for your home. If you’re a current Clark customer, you’re entitled to a free annual termite inspection.

Our expert termite inspectors focus their eyes on the most vulnerable areas of a structure. They can recognize signs of termite presence that include blistering or weakness in wood, frass (termite droppings) from hidden termite galleries, and termite wings near light fixtures or window sills.

With 40 percent of subterranean termite infestations originating at utility entrances through slabs, along with settlement and expansion cracks in the slab, our inspectors begin at the foundation and work their way upward, examining every crack, crevice, and potential termite entry point.

To further protect your home from termites, Clark Pest Control offers its Termite Infestation Protection (T.I.P.) program. T.I.P. will guard your home from the unknown costs of future termite treatments, plus any necessary structural repairs caused by termites.

Should termites infest your home while your T.I.P. coverage is in effect, we’ll control the infestation, and also repair or replace, as necessary, any structural wood members found to be weakened by termites – at no additional charge.

To learn if your home qualifies for the T.I.P. program, a complete termite inspection must be performed, and any treatments and/or repairs that the inspector recommends must be completed.

If you think termites are a problem in your home, call or text (800) WE NEED YOU (936-3339) or drop me an email at clarkcares@clarkpest.com to schedule a termite inspection and learn more about the T.I.P. program.

Until next time, the pest management professionals at Clark Pest Control thank you for helping to keep unwanted pests out of your home.
