Todays Daily Pest Profile is the Argentine Ant. The Argentine ant is one of the most common ant we come across!
Physical Characteristics
Argentine worker ants are 2.2 2.86 mm (1/16") long and are brown to black in color. Queens are two to four times larger than workers.
Behavior
Argentine ants will usually nest near moisture, such as; household plumbing, sinks, potted plants and even sprinklers. The workers will follow routine trails while looking for their next meal while accompanied by winged queens. The Argentine ant can nest as deep as 24 inches and will forage for food up to 200 feet from their nest making good use of tree branches and even utility lines to travel.
The Argentine ant loves sweets, especially fruit juices and candy.
Treatment Methods
Most infestations of Argentine ants can be controlled with Clark's Year Round Pest Control. However, in cases of heavy, difficult infestations a combination of residual barriers and baits may be used.
